In 2007, shortly after their album ' A Lesson In Romantics ' Jason Lancaster, a former vocalist and guitar player, left the band due to acclaimed personal reasons. There has been much speculation as to why Jason left Mayday. Many have said that one of the reasons that he left was due to the fact that he wasn't getting the credit for all the work he put into the band as far as writing songs. Here is a statement from him:
“You guys should know things about this band that I can’t tell you, but believe like I do that they are all good at heart, just a little misguided at times…Mayday was a big part of my life but ask them next time who wrote the album, I bet my name doesn't come up. Or why I am off the bio completely, or maybe how I am denied credit in the album for writing anything. Or maybe ask Derek how he can take credit in so many publications and reply to me ‘I understand if this means we can’t be friends anymore’ when I asked him about it. Ask Jake how easy it was to write me off when I had no more chorus’ for him. We had been playing together for six years. I’m not bitter anymore and all will heal with time, but know the bands you love, and know they aren't always what they seem.”

There has also been talk that after the album was recorded, the band wanted to go on tour straight away. But Jason's father was extremely sick and was expected to die, so he left the group to be with his father in his last years. In addition to accusations about his father, Jason was also about to get married to his now ex-wife Katie. In general he was burnt out on music at that time and being in a band. - I think a lot of it had to do with him thinking it was time for him to settle down. And while he wasn't given any credit for writing, and is listed as "Additional Vocals and Guitar by Jason Lancaster" in the A Lesson In Romantics credits, the album was released after he left the band. So I'm not sure how much of that had to do with it. -
Now Jason is with the very well successful band ' Go Radio. ' Go Radio is a rock band also from Tallahassee, Florida, formed by former Mayday Parade vocalist, guitarist and lyricist Jason Lancaster in April 2007. The band has toured with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, A Day To Remember, A Rocket To The Moon, as well as Mayday Parade. They played the entire Vans Warped Tour in 2011.
